Shipwreck Lodge

Shipwreck Lodge rises from the dunes of Namibia’s remote Skeleton Coast, its timber cabins echoing the weather-scarred hulls that give this shoreline its name. Days begin with coffee on your cabin’s porch and gentle strolls around camp, where desert-adapted plants, beetles and lichen paint surprising bursts of life across the sand.

Discover Ultra-Luxury on the Skeleton Coast

Perched between wind-carved dunes and the Atlantic’s fogbound surf inside Namibia’s Skeleton Coast National Park, Shipwreck Lodge hosts just ten architect-designed cabins—eight twin/double and two family—shaped like the rusted hulls that inspired their name.

Solar power, wood-burning stoves and floor-to-ceiling views fuse feather-light eco-ethos with deep comfort, while days unfold amid roaring dunes, ghostly wrecks and desert-adapted wildlife that defies the desolation.

Location & Setting

Shipwreck Lodge sits on a remote stretch of Namibia’s famed Skeleton Coast, where remnants of rusting wrecks punctuate vast, wind-sculpted sands and the roaring surf meets endless sky.

Morning mists roll in from the Atlantic, drifting among elephant tracks and seal colonies; midday heat glimmers over the dunes; and at dusk, the coastline’s eerie silhouettes glow in molten gold. This is a land of contrasts—ghostly relics and thriving wildlife, fierce seas and silent sands—framed by breathtaking isolation.

Accommodation & Design

Twelve avant-garde timber cabins angle out of the ivory dunes like time-worn ship hulls abandoned by a receding tide. Weathered cladding, porthole-inspired windows and driftwood accents echo the Skeleton Coast’s maritime lore, while vast floor-to-ceiling panes pull the Atlantic’s restless rollers—mist, spray and all—straight into your line of sight.

Inside, king or twin beds are dressed in stone-washed linens; a crackling wood-burning stove partners with silent solar heating to chase the night chill.

Each ensuite bathroom pairs a rainfall shower with eco-friendly toiletries, and thoughtful touches—hand-crafted leather trunks, woven sisal rugs, locally carved light fixtures—lend an understated sense of luxury.

One cabin is tailored for families: its day-bed conceals a pull-out trundle, creating a comfortable berth for younger explorers without disturbing the suite’s airy flow.

Beyond double doors, a private veranda invites you to savour dawn coffee, watch fog banks roll in, or trace constellations unblurred by city lights.

Culinary & Hospitality

All meals are enjoyed in the lodge’s glass-fronted main area, where panoramic Atlantic views pair with dishes that showcase Namibian produce—think freshly baked farm bread, West Coast oysters and slow-braised oryx.

When weather allows, the team sets up surprise picnic lunches in the dunes or under a lone camel-thorn, but breakfasts remain a warm, indoor affair overlooking the shifting sands.
