Uganda

Uganda is situated in East Central Africa and is the place where the Eastern and Western frontiers of the world’s most vibrant continent converge. The country is characterised by relatively dry and flat savanna in the north, verdant mountains in the West, vast dense and remarkably lush forests in the central region. In addition, visitors can find gorgeous waterfalls, expansive tea-plantations and fresh-water lakes.
It is no wonder that Winston Churchill once went as far as describing Uganda as Africa’s Pearl in the early 1900s.

The nation is home to an astonishingly diverse range of African wildlife including the highly endangered mountain Gorilla which can be found in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Chimpanzees have been habituated in the Budogno and Kanvivo Pabidi forests. Uganda has over 350 species of mammals which include the following: Cheetah, Lion, Leopard, Jackals, Rhino, Giraffe, Buffalo, Hippo, Zebra and Elephant.

A popular spot for wildlife watching is Queen Elizabeth National Park, which hosts four of the Big Five, a flock of flamboyant flamingos and the rare tree-climbing Lions of Ishasha. Outdoor enthusiasts can get their adrenaline fix with plenty of white-water rafting, kayaking, hiking, quad biking and horse-riding facilities on offer. Add to this some friendly locals, a burgeoning cultural scene, and a capital city full of lively bars, clubs and restaurants, and it is easy to see why Uganda has gained itself a reputation as ‘Africa’s friendliest country’.

The most popular attractions in Uganda are: Bwindi Impenetrable Forests National Park, Rwenzori Mountain National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale Forest National Park, The Source of the Nile, Mt. Elgon National Park and Kidepo Valley National Park.
